‘This Material Body’, formerly known as the singer-songwriter ‘Maebh’, is a project that started during the pandemic focusing on exploring new sonic territories through digital and analog sound. Exploring themes like loss, nostalgia, and the mundane through synthesizers, drum machines and found sounds - “this material body” approaches songs as ephemera instead of indestructible and deathless. Recognizable progressions decay, drums weave in and out of rhythm and time, the narrative becomes at once both known and unknown. Reaching for something outside of view, and yet is still bound by the limits of what it is to be human.
